Biography

Rev. Fr. Pradeep Niroshan Fernando, the National Director of the National Catechetical Centre, Colombo, brings together a rich blend of pastoral, academic, and administrative experience dedicated to faith formation and education. Formed at the National Seminary of Our Lady of Lanka, affiliated to the Pontifical Urban University, Rome, he holds Baccalaureate degrees in Philosophy and Theology, a Master of Education (M.Ed.) from Lincoln University, Malaysia, and a Diploma in Catechetics from Shanthi Sadan, Goa.

Before his appointment as National Director in 2024, he served in diverse capacities, including Primary Principal of St. Peter’s College (Gampaha Branch), Priest-in-Charge at St. Joseph’s College, Colombo, Chaplain of the Young Catholic Students’ Movement (YCS) in the Archdiocese of Colombo, and Academic Staff Member of the National Institute of Education, Maharagama.

His ministerial journey has been enriched through pastoral service in parishes such as St. Anthony’s Shrine, Dalupotha, Sacred Heart Church, Kirulapone, and Sacred Heart Church, Mattumagala. With prior professional experience at Caritas SEDEC and World Vision Lanka, Fr. Pradeep combines educational expertise with a compassionate pastoral vision.

His international exposure through leadership and training programs—including sessions on communication, child psychology, project management, and global YCS formation—reflects his commitment to nurturing a holistic, missionary, and dynamic catechetical spirit across Sri Lanka.
