Annual Three-Day Catechists’ Teacher Training Course 2025 – Sinhala Medium

The National Catechetical and Biblical Centre successfully organized the Annual Three-Day Catechists’ Teacher Training Course 2025 from 17th to 18th May 2025 at the Dharma Retreat House, Tewatta, Ragama. The program was held under the guidance of Rev. Fr. Pradeep Niroshan Fernando, Director of the National Catechetical and Biblical Apostolate, with the assistance of the National Office Staff.

The training brought together 50 Catechetical Teachers representing all twelve dioceses of Sri Lanka, providing a national platform for faith formation, skill development, and spiritual renewal. The sessions focused on catechetical methodology, classroom management, biblical foundations, and integrating faith into daily life.

Key facilitators included Rev. Fr. Tharanga Dileshitha (Director, Kurunegala Catechetical Centre), Rev. Fr. Prasad Harshana (Rector, Minor Seminary, Colombo), Rev. Sr. Noela Prashanthi, Mrs. Marini Dhammika (In-service Advisor), and Mr. Roshan Perera. Additional support was provided by Rev. Fr. Dinesh Appuhami (Director, Colombo Catechetical Office) and Rev. Fr. Dilip Eranda (Director, Anuradhapura Catechetical Office).

The Very Rev. Fr. Basil Rohan, Director of the National Pontifical Mission Society, graced the occasion and presided over the Holy Eucharistic Celebration, marking a moment of great spiritual significance.

The program achieved its objectives by equipping catechists with both practical teaching skills and renewed spiritual depth. Through workshops, discussions, and reflections, participants experienced a profound sense of unity and mission, reaffirming their role as faith educators in the Church’s ongoing catechetical journey.
